Pussycat Dolls, Leona Lewis to perform at the MTV Asia Awards 2008
The Pussycat Dolls will perform their latest single “When I Grow Up” for the first time in Asia at the MTV Asia Awards 2008. Their new single is doing well and a huge success in the US . When I Grow Up peaked at #9 at the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.
The Pussycat Dolls first exploded on the pop music scene in 2005 with their worldwide #1 hit “Don’t Cha.” Their debut album, PCD, has sold over 7 million copies internationally on the strength of hit singles like “Buttons,” “Stickwitu” and “Wait A Minute.”
It will be exactly 2 years since Pussycat Dolls performed in Malaysia. On August 8, 2006, after a Dolls concert in Kuala Lumpur, their concert promoter, Absolute Entertainment, was charged with flouting Malaysian decency laws. The Malay Mail quoted Culture Arts and Heritage Minister Datuk Mohamad Arif Abdul Rahman as saying: “I believe the way the Pussycat Dolls behaved onstage amounted to gross indecency”. The charge was settled by paying a fine of RM5000 (US$1358).
According to MTVasia.com, Leona Lewis, OneRepublic, Panic At The Disco and The Click Five will also be performing that night.
